Both Miss Moberly and Miss Jourdain saw and felt strange things, but the latter also heard unreal music. Now for the first time a detailed discussion of this music is presented by Professor Ian Parrott, who has a rare combination of qualifications: he is both a professional musician and a psychical researcher. The fragment of music which Miss Jourdain wrote down has remained unpublished for 60 years and now at last it is made available, together with a sympathetic unravelling of some of the tangles and misunderstandings which have grown up round it.For the last fifteen years Dr. Parrott has been Professor of Music in the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. His compositions have been conducted by such leading musicians as Boult and Barbirolli and in 1949 the symphonic impression, Luxor, with a main theme which came to him as if from Ancient Egypt - who can say it did not? - was awarded the first prize of the Royal Philharmonic Society.
